CURRENT POSITION
/ RESPONSIBILITIES
Thomas K. Arai is the Regional Vice President for the South Bay, Orange County and
Inland Empire regions. His responsibilities include oversight of the regional property
management staff, day-to-day operation and new business development.
EXPERIENCE/EXPERTISE
Tom Arai has a twenty six year proven track record in asset, property and portfolio
management of commercial real estate properties nationwide. Mr. Arai has developed
expertise and experience in the areas of retail, office and industrial management,
commercial leasing, acquisition and disposition, and construction supervision, through
his senior level positions at Insignia/ESG, PM Realty Advisors, Jones Lang Wootton, and
Shuwa Investments Corporation.
Prior to joining Charles Dunn Tom served as the Grubb & Ellis Managing Director of
National Accounts where he handled an office, industrial & retail portfolio totaling 9.0
million square feet. Tom’s National clients included the Carlyle Group, Land Lease and
PM Realty Advisors.
Tom has also overseen property management on such major office buildings as Arco
Towers, Los Angeles, CA (2.3 million square feet); 787 W. Seventh Avenue, NY, NY (1.7
million square feet); 1900 and 1901 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, CA (1.4 million
square feet); Wachovia Financial Centre, Miami, FL (1.2 million square feet), SeaFirst,
Seattle, WA (1 million square feet).
Mr. Arai is a licensed real estate broker in California and has been awarded the
designation of Certified Property Manager (CPM®) by the Institute of Real Estate
Management. He has also been awarded the Real Property Administrator (RPA ®)
designation from the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).
EDUCATION
- Mr. Arai graduated from Claremont McKenna College with a BA in Sociology and has
taken additional coursework at UCLA on Real Estate Investment Analysis and Income
Property Appraisal.
